Disability – Long Term

Scope

Full-time faculty and administrative employees.

Policy

Employees are eligible to participate in the Albion College Long-Term Total Disability Plan subject to the terms and conditions of the policy in place at the time of disability beginning the first day of the month following one (1) year of employment. If you are absent from work on the day you would otherwise become eligible, you will become eligible on the day you return to work.

The total disability benefit allows for a monthly disability payment after six (6) months of continuous total disability as defined under the plan.

Procedure

When an employee becomes “disabled,” the Human Resources office must be notified so that the necessary application forms for monthly disability benefits can be completed and submitted to Insurance provider.

The Long Term Disability Insurance Plan Certificate provides a summary of the plan. Payment of benefits is governed by the terms of the group insurance policy.
