About Mikayla:

From a young age, I’ve been driven by a strong desire to help others. Guided by this passion, I pursued a legal education and earned a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law. As clichéd as it may sound, the prospect of making a meaningful impact in someone’s life has fueled my journey. It’s my heartfelt belief that survivors deserve unwavering support and guidance during their journey. As a campus victim advocate, I will stand alongside survivors as they navigate their best path forward. In my role, I can assist survivors in the following ways:

  • Coordinating transportation for sexual assault forensic exams
  • Provide confidential supportive listening
  • Give referrals for on/off-campus counseling
  • Create personalized safety plans for clients
  • Accompanying clients to on-campus meetings to provide support and encouragement
  • Assisting clients in making informed decisions about reporting to the Title IX office
  • Aid clients in obtaining a Personal Protective Order [legal document] or a No Contact Order [campus document]
  • Provide limited legal advocacy and court accompaniment for clients pressing criminal charges
  • Helps clients secure safe on/off-campus housing

If you need help with something that is not listed above, feel free to set up a meeting anyway and we can discuss options more in depth. It’s an honor to provide a guiding hand to survivors as they courageously navigate their recovery, working together to create a more just, supportive, and inclusive campus for all!
