Why Study Sport Communication at Albion?

As a sport communication major, you’ll develop a broad understanding of communication in sports contexts. You’ll explore the media environment and study the history and contemporary application of sports marketing.

Our courses equip you with a fundamental understanding of sports communication, along with tools that will assist you in building your career. You’ll develop skills across multiple communication disciplines that will open the door to a variety of roles in the industry. You’ll also practice application, analysis, and critical thinking about communication in sports organizations through research projects.

What Will You Learn as a Sport Communication Major?

You’ll learn how to think critically and creatively about how communication in sports functions within contemporary culture.

You’ll explore the media environment as well as the culture in and around sport.

You’ll investigate how social media is transforming the sports-media complex, how communication theories play a role in every aspect of sport, and how to apply communication strategies at every level of the sporting enterprise.

You’ll learn essential skills in sports and event marketing.

As a sport communication major, you can expand your understanding of communication by taking advantage of Albion’s many off-campus opportunities. Spend a semester at the Philadelphia Center or in the New York Arts Program, or travel internationally to Australia, England, Ireland, France, and Germany.
