Why Study Environmental Sustainability Practices at Albion?

The Environmental Sustainability Practices concentration provides students with the tools to become environmental and social changemakers through an action-oriented, “think global, act local” philosophy. Through hands-on experiential learning supported by coursework, students will explore environmental systems, sustainability principles, and social justice, integrating these areas to better understand global environmental challenges and tackle local sustainability issues.

Students must be admitted to the Center for Sustainability and the Environment to pursue this concentration.

Research

We believe that hands-on learning is just as important as classroom work. The Environmental Sustainability Practices Concentration emphasizes student engagement through community partnerships, project-based research, and collaborative problem-solving. Students gain real-world experience by designing and implementing sustainability initiatives, supported by Albion College resources such as the Foundation for Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (FURSCA).
