Our Mission

Vision

The Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center at Albion College has become a fixture within the greater College community since its construction in 2004. Today, the staff seize every opportunity to connect the life and leadership lessons that naturally coincide with the acquisition of horsemanship skills to the ideals of a liberal arts education, producing students and alumni with improved problem-solving and reasoning abilities that serve them well in and out of the saddle.

Mission

The mission of the Albion College Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center is to enhance the abilities of each participant to acquire knowledge and develop skills in horsemanship and horseback riding. The program’s focus is to provide skill based instruction in a safe learning environment. Albion College provides equine instruction for all levels and backgrounds of riders, from true beginners to the most advanced, many of whom may participate in one of the College’s three competitive programs:

  • Hunt Seat
  • Western
  • Dressage

The College believes in a high standard of education for the student and the best quality of care for the horse. Through hands on horsemanship and opportunities to absorb information and theory from a wide variety of reliable experts, riders are encouraged and empowered for life lessons through a positive and encouraging environment.
