We’re excited to welcome you to campus and want to help make your move as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Planning ahead is key, so be sure to book your flights and travel arrangements early, keeping in mind the official Move-In and Move-Out dates shared by the College. Arriving or departing within these timeframes helps ensure you have access to your room and campus resources without any hassle. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Move-In Information

Move-In day marks the start of an exciting new chapter! Below, you’ll find important details for both the Fall and Spring semesters to help you plan your arrival. Along with key dates and procedures, we’ve also included a helpful list of what to bring and what to leave at home to make your move smoother and your new space comfortable and safe. What to Bring & Not to Bring

New student Move-in for Spring semester takes place on Sunday, January 18, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the ground floor of Ferguson Hall.

Returning student Move-in for the Spring semester will be held on Sunday, January 18, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Students can check-in either on the ground floor of Ferguson Hall or on the first floor of the Kellogg Center.

Students may arrive anytime during this window to complete the check-in process and begin moving into their housing assignment.

New student Move-in for the Fall semester takes place on Wednesday, August 20, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Wesley Hall.

Students will receive an email with a link to sign up for a specific check-in time via SignUpGenius to help manage arrivals smoothly. Upon arrival, Campus Safety staff will direct you where to park. Then, proceed to the check-in area inside Wesley Hall to complete the check-in process. Once you are checked in, you may begin unloading and moving into your residence. Please plan to arrive during your assigned time to ensure an efficient and safe move-in experience.

Returning student Move-in for the Fall semester will be held on Saturday, August 23, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Kellogg Center. Returning students can arrive anytime during this window to check in and move into their housing assignment.

What to Bring

To make your move easier, consider bringing a foldable wagon or dolly to help transport your belongings from your vehicle to your residence. Don’t forget essentials for living away from home, such as bedding, toiletries, school supplies, and any personal items that will make your space comfortable and functional.

What Not to Bring

For safety and community wellbeing, please do not bring air conditioner units (except those approved for medical need), pets (except approved emotional support animals), or candles and open flames.

Move-Out Information

As your time on campus comes to a close, it’s important to plan ahead for a smooth and timely move-out. Properly checking out of your housing assignment ensures you leave your space clean and ready for the next student, and helps avoid any unnecessary fines on your account. Below you’ll find key details and tips to help you prepare for move-out and complete the process with ease. Tips for a Successful Move-Out

Move-out for the Fall semester must be completed within 24 hours after your last final exam or no later than 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, whichever comes first.

To check out, students are required to scan the check-out QR code located in their residence building as their final step before leaving campus.

Students who will not be returning for the Spring semester must complete an Express Check-Out and return their Albion1Card to Campus Safety as their final step before departure.

Move-out for the Spring semester must be completed within 24 hours after your last final exam or no later than 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6, whichever comes first.

Graduating students have an automatic late stay approval and must complete move-out by 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 9.

To check out, students are required to scan the check-out QR code located in their building as their final step before leaving campus.

Students who will not be returning for the Fall semester must complete an Express Check-Out and return their Albion1Card to Campus Safety as their final step before departure.

Fall and Spring Semesters

  • Attend Your Hall Meeting: These meetings provide important details and any specific check-out procedures for your community.
  • Coordinate with Your Roommate: Communicate with your roommate to ensure shared responsibilities and property are handled properly.
  • Dispose of Trash Properly: Remove all trash and unwanted items. If you are discarding furniture, place it next to the dumpster.
  • Clean Your Room: Sweep floors thoroughly and wipe down all hard surfaces with sanitizing wipes.
  • Windows: Make sure all windows are closed and locked.
  • Lights: Make sure all lights are turned off.

Fall Semester Only

  • Electronics: Unplug all electronics before leaving for break.
  • Mini-fridge: Unplug and defrost mini-fridge before leaving for break. Make sure doors are propped open with a towel.
  • Perishable Foods: Make sure all perishable food is taken with you.
  • Room Setup: If your roommate moved out, make sure your room is set up for another roommate to move in next semester.

Spring Semester Only

  • Pack Up Completely: All belongings must be removed from your room by check-out time. Items left behind will be considered abandoned property and disposed of accordingly.
  • Apartment & House Residents: Empty and clean refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves, and all closets. Appliances must be wiped down as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my pet with me when I move in? Toggle Accordion

Pets are not allowed in residence halls, except for approved emotional support animals. Non-carnivorous fish are permitted in tanks that are 10 gallons or less. For more information on accommodations or exceptions, please contact the Office of Community Living at [email protected].

What happens if I leave belongings behind after move-out? Toggle Accordion

Any items left in the room after check-out will be considered abandoned and disposed of according to College policy. Additional cleaning fees will be applied.

Can I arrive earlier or stay later than the scheduled Move-In/Move-Out dates? Toggle Accordion

Our office does offer early arrival and late stay requests, but these are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed approval. Students should plan to arrive and depart within the official Move-In and Move-Out windows. Exceptions are typically granted for College-organized programs in coordination with Community Living. If you need to request an early arrival or late stay, please login to the Housing Portal to submit your request well in advance.
