Elkin R. Isaac Student Research Symposium
The 33rd Annual Elkin R. Isaac Student Research Symposium
For more than three decades, the Elkin R. Isaac Research Symposium has honored excellent student research, scholarship, and creative activity. The participants are nominated by their faculty sponsors after having participated in independent research that results in the significant synthesis of new knowledge. The research must have been performed under the direct supervision of an Albion College faculty member, or in a College-approved off-campus program. The symposium is sponsored by the Elkin R. Isaac Endowment.
The symposium will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Elkin R. Isaac Symposium Returns in Person, Stronger Than Ever
The Elkin R. Isaac Student Research Symposium is back in person this year, after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic the last two years: canceled in 2020 and conducted virtually in 2021. “I think it’s exciting,” says Jill Marie Mason, ’01, director of the library and coordinator of this year’s Symposium. “It’s important to reestablish this tradition, because we’ve now had two classes of students who haven’t been familiarized with this annual celebration.”

The Albion College community remembers Elkin Isaac, ’48 (1922-2013)
Albion alumni honored their former teacher, coach and mentor in 1991 by creating the Elkin R. Isaac Endowed Lectureship. The lectureship expanded in 1997 to become associated with Albion’s annual student research symposium, featuring presentations by students recommended by their faculty sponsors for outstanding independent study and research. The symposium now bears Isaac’s name.
