Albion College
alumni are going places, and now you can show off your Briton pride
as you travel!
Albion College
alumni are eligible to receive two
custom Albion College luggage tags, compliments of the Office of
Alumni/Parent Relations & Annual Giving. Simply send in up to two
business cards with your gift, and we will create a set of laminated
luggage tags for you. Great for laptops and briefcases too! The
purple and gold tags will help you easily recognize your luggage
when you travel, and they may spark conversations with fellow
Albion alumni or prospective students.

Alumni
Directory Available Online
Albion College’s
online alumni directory allows alumni to search for fellow Albion
classmates. As a contributor to Albion College, you can have access
to the directory to find the names, addresses, phone numbers, and
email addresses of classmates and friends.

A donation made during the current
fiscal year or last fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) will
grant you access to the online alumni directory. If you have already
made a donation, you can receive your assigned username and
temporary password by filling out the
Alumni Directory Access Request Form or call the Office of Alumni and
Parent Relations at 517/629-0448. You will need to provide your full
name, class year, and address for verification purposes. Please
allow several days for your request to be processed.

Former Choir Director Mel
Larimer, '53, Dies this Morning

Melvin S. Larimer, the
1953 Albion graduate who spent 20 years as the College's choir
director until his retirement 1995, died this morning (March 27)
at his home in Traverse City, Mich. He was 77 years old. Funeral
arrangements and a full obituary will be posted on Albion's Web
site Friday (March 28).

Studies' Selva Raj Dies

Selva Raj, professor
and chair of religious studies who was known internationally as
an expert on the religions of south India and beloved locally as
a kind and gentle scholar, died unexpectedly of natural causes
Saturday (March 15) at his home in Albion. He was 55.

Students Go Global With Multinational Conference in France

students, along with Gerstacker director Mike Frandsen and
German professor Perry Myers are in France this week for a
unique multinational opportunity. Albion is one of six schools
from five countries participating in "International Week,"
hosted by Escia, an international business school near

most gifted early astronaut candidates – and how their gender
prohibited them from achieving their dreams of space flight – is
the topic for Albion College's 2008 Anna Howard Shaw lecture.
"The Mercury 13: The Lost Story of America's Space Pioneers," is
presented by author Martha Ackmann and one of Mercury 13
members, Wally Funk, on Wednesday April 2, in Albion College's
Norris Center Towsley Hall.

Professor Heads to Florence on Fulbright Grant

Chemistry
professor Vanessa McCaffrey's interest in molecular magnetism
was a big attraction for the Fulbright Scholar Program, which
recently named McCaffrey as a 2007-08 Fulbright grant recipient.
From February through July of 2008, McCaffrey will work with one
of the world's foremost molecular magnetic researchers in his
lab at the University of Florence in Italy.

Catherine Fontana Wins 'Irish Rhodes,' George J. Mitchell Scholarship

prestigious George J. Mitchell Scholarship, nicknamed the “Irish Rhodes” in the
U.S., recently announced that Albion College senior Catherine Fontana is one of
twelve Mitchell Scholars chosen for 2008-2009.
An English and biology major at Albion, Fontana
will spend the next academic year at Trinity
College in Dublin, Ireland,
pursuing a masters degree in environmental science.

Gregory Eastwood, ’62, with its highest honor, the University
Medal. Eastwood served as Case Western’s interim president for the
