8:16 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Campus Safety Officers found the Ferguson Supervisory alarm sounding inside the building. Facilities was advised of the issue. Disp: Cleared.

January 6th

10:01 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Delta Sigma Phi fraternity trouble alarm activated. Campus Safety officers checked the building and advised a fire sensor in the basement had been accidentally sprayed with a hose. After the sensor dried the alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

4:53 pm – INTRUSION ALARM: Technical Services building intrusion alarm sounded. Officers completed a walk-through of the building and reset the alarm. Disp: Cleared.

11:14 am – INTRUSION ALARM: Jr High Building intrusion alarm activated. Officers completed a walk-through of the building and reset the alarm. Disp: Cleared.

January 7th

7:32 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: Kresge Gym Lot 10 was reported to be very full because of the basketball game. Officers checked the lot and vehicles were still able to get in and out. Disp: Cleared.

January 8th

8:52 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Ingham Annex smoke alarm activated. Officers completed a walk-through of the building and were unable to find a cause for the alarm. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

January 9th

7:50 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Jr High Building trouble alarm sounded. Sprinkler testing was taking place in the building. Disp: Cleared.

January 10th

4:15 am – SMOKE ALARM: Ingham Annex smoke alarms activated. Officers completed a walk-through of the building, but found no cause of alarm. Facilities was advised of the alarm. Disp: Disp: Cleared.

January 12th

4:17 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Science Complex trouble alarm sounded and reset itself. Officers completed a walk-through of the building. Disp: Cleared.

January 16th

11:15 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: Officers reported a student vehicle parked on the patio of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Disp: cleared.

January 17th

1:27 am – SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Officers found two adults sleeping in Fiske Annex on the couches. Officers discovered they were parents of a student who had moved in earlier in the day. Disp: Cleared.

January 18th

9:08 am – BAT REMOVAL: A student reported a bat sleeping on the wall near the ceiling in Whitehouse Hall central stairwell. Disp: Cleared.

1:06 pm – SMOKE/ODOR INVESTIGATION: The Sigma Chi Fraternity cooks reported a strong smell of gas in the kitchen. Officers responded. Facilities advised the pilot needed to be lit and they would come address the situation. Disp: Cleared.

January 19th

7:43 am – ALCOHOL VIOLATION: Incident occurred at Wesley Hall. Disp: Closed (Administrative).

10:13 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: A student was emailed to move their vehicle from a driveway used for maintenance. Disp: Cleared. Disp: Cleared

January 20th

7:00 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: A student was emailed to move their vehicle from Lot 1 near Wesley Hall, where the car was parked in a Fire Lane. Disp: Cleared.

3:00 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: A student was emailed to move her vehicle from assigned staff parking in Lot 11. Disp: Cleared.

January 21st

9:28 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: Two students were emailed to move their vehicles that were parked in a Fire Lane behind the Fraternities. Disp: Cleared.

January 22nd

10:00 am – HARASSMENT: A student reported receiving unwanted email from a family member.

10:26 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: Staff members reported Employee Lot 18 was full and several vehicles were students not assigned to that lot. Disp: Cleared.

January 23rd

10:18 pm – LARCENY: A student reported his phone stolen from the Dow Center. Disp: Closed (Criminal).

January 24th

12:33 am – SUSPICIOUS PERSON: An anonymous caller reported there was a non-student who had caused problems in the fraternity last semester that was on the front porch of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Officers responded and spoke with fraternity members who advised the subject had not caused any issues at this time and had left the area. Disp: Cleared.

January 25th

12:22 am – ILLEGAL DRUG VIOLATION: A marijuana type smell was reported in Wesley Hall. Officers responded but were unable to locate the source. Disp: Cleared.

12:37 am – ALCOHOL VIOLATION: Incident occurred at Sigma Nu fraternity. Disp: Closed (Administrative).

1:45 am – MALICIOUS ALARM ACTIVATION: Wesley Hall fire alarm sounded. Officers responded and found a pull box activated on the first floor.

11:20 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: Students reported Lot 8 was full and one car in particular had been continuously parking in the lot without proper permits. Disp: Cleared.

January 27th

12:41 pm – MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Facilities reported spray paint graffiti on a transformer behind Baldwin Hall. Disp: Inactive.

January 28th

12:24 am – SMOKE ALARM: Mitchell Towers smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found a hair-straightener had set off the alarm. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

January 29th

12:15 am – NOISE COMPLAINT: A room in Mitchell Towers was reported to be very loud. Officers spoke with the occupants who quieted down. Disp: Cleared.

4:21 pm – VEHICLE ACCIDENT: A student reported that the tail light of his vehicle had been broken in Lot 8. Disp: Inactive.

10:16 pm – ILLEGAL DRUG VIOLATION: A marijuana type smell was reported in Mitchell Towers. Officers responded but could not determine the source. Disp: Cleared.

January 30th

11:00 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: A student who was parked in a maintenance driveway was emailed to move her vehicle. Disp: Cleared.

7: 08 pm – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: A student reported his wallet had been stolen from Baldwin Hall. Wallet was found in Baldwin Hall a short time later with all his belongings still inside. Disp: Unfounded.

10:36 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Physical Plant Supervisory Alarm activated. Officers made sure the building was secure. Facilities was advised. Disp: Cleared.

10:58 pm – FIRE EXTINGUISHER/MALICIOUS DISCHARGE: A student reported that a fire extinguisher had been discharged in a stairwell of Sigma Nu. Disp: Inactive.

January 31st

1:42 pm – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: An employee reported the historical sign in front of the Observatory was missing. Facilities was contacted and advised it was taken down for maintenance. Disp: Unfounded.

11:55 pm – STALKING: A student reported being harassed by an ex-boyfriend and family.

12:57 am – SUSPICIOUS PERSON: A student reported a suspicious person and vehicle behind Whitehouse Hall. Officers responded and discovered they were individuals who worked for the college. Disp: Cleared.

1:21 am – SMOKE ALARM: Tau Kappa Epsilon smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found a burnt newspaper on the second floor. Alarm was reset. Disp: Inactive.

9:17 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Sigma Chi trouble alarm activated. Officers responded and found the trouble within the system. Facilities was notified of the issue. Disp: Cleared.

10:11 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: Two student vehicles were blocking the driveway behind Wesley Hall in Lot 1. Disp: Cleared.

February 2nd

2:38 am – MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Incident occurred at Whitehouse Hall. Disp: Cleared.

9:10 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: Grounds reported a vehicle that needed to be moved so they could plow the snow in Lot 1. Disp: Cleared.

10:49 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: ADPS advised three vehicles parked on Bidwell needed to be moved so the city could plow, otherwise they would be towed. Disp: Cleared.

1:00 pm – SEXUAL ASSAULT: A sexual assault which occurred in a residence hall during the spring 2014 semester was reported. Inactive.

February 3rd

8:08 pm – ASSIST ADPS: Campus Safety officers assisted ADPS with a vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of Cass and Mingo Streets. Disp: Cleared.

10:58 am – SMOKE ALARM: Wesley Hall smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found a class cooking in the first floor kitchen. The room was aired out and the alarm reset. Disp: Cleared.

5:18 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Science Complex trouble alarm activated. The alarm reset before officer arrival.

5:42 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Briton Apartments smoke alarms activated. Officers responded and found on of the apartments had been cooking and the kitchen got a little smoky. Alarm reset. Disp: Cleared.

February 4th

5:16 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Mudd Library alarm activated. Officers responded. The building was secure and Facilities was advised of the system trouble. Disp: Cleared.

2:12 pm – INTRUSION ALARM: Bellemont Manor intrusion alarm was tripped. Officers responded and found Facilities employees in the building. Alarm was reset after their exit. Disp: Cleared.

9:05 pm – LARCENY: A student reported her left shoe stolen from Goodrich Chapel. She advised this was the third time it had happened. Disp: Inactive.

9:30 pm – ILLEGAL DRUG VIOLATION: Incident occurred at Wesley Hall. Disp: Closed (Administrative)

February 5th

3:00 pm – LARCENY: A student reported several gallons of juice concentrate missing from Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Disp: Inactive.

8:13 pm – SMOKE/ODOR INVESTIGATION: A marijuana type smell was reported in Mitchell Towers. Officers responded but did not smell anything suspicious. Disp: Cleared.

8:58 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Jr High alarm activated. Officers responded and found there was an issue with the boilers. Facilities was contacted. Disp: Cleared.

February 6th

12:05 am – SMOKE/ODOR INVESTIGATION: A marijuana smell was reported in Mitchell Towers. Officers responded but were unable to locate the source. Disp: Cleared.

2:32 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Science Complex trouble alarm activated. Alarm reset itself before officer arrival. Disp: Cleared.

8:20 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Baldwin Hall alarm panel was beeping in the hallway. Officers checked the panel. System trouble was reported to Facilities. Disp: Cleared.

12:11 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Delta Sigma Phi fraternity smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found a small amount of smoke in the kitchen. Smoke was cleared and the alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

2:40 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Science Complex trouble alarm activated. Officers responded, found the system in trouble, and proceed to reset itself a few moments later. Facilities was advised of the trouble. Disp: Cleared.

8:35 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Delta Sigma Phi trouble alarm sounded. Officers checked the building and silenced the alarm panel. Facilities was advised of the alarm issue. Disp: Cleared.

11:37 pm – NOISE COMPLAINT: Mae Apartment 3 was reported to be very loud. Officers checked the Mae and did not hear any noise. Disp: Cleared.

February 9th

1:14 pm – SMOKE/ODOR INVESTIGATION: A student reported something on the 3rd floor of Whitehouse Hall smelled like it was burning. Officers responded and found incense burning. Student, whose room they were burning in, was contacted to extinguish them. Disp: Closed (Administrative).

1:28 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Burns Apartment smoke alarm sounded. Officers responded and found the alarm was activated due to cooking in one of the apartments. Disp: Cleared.

February 10th

4:07 pm – ILLEGAL DRUG VIOLATION: A marijuana type smell was reported in Mitchell Towers. Officers responded but were unable to locate the source. Disp: Cleared.

February 11th

12:36 am – SUSPICIOUS PERSON: A suspicious person was reported sitting in the Herrick Center Green Room. Officers responded and spoke to the individual who is a college employee. Disp: Unfounded.

9:39 am – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: First Merit Bank reported their ATM machine in the Kellogg Center was showing the machine was being serviced, but they were unaware anyone was looking at it. Officers responded and found the machine secure and everything looked fine. Disp: Cleared.

12:31 pm – MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Faculty reported a drawing on the wall in one of the rooms at the Science Complex. Disp: Cleared.

5:59 pm – VEHICLE ACCIDENT: A staff member reported her vehicle scratched while parked in lot 18. Disp: Inactive.

10:08 pm – INTRUSION ALARM: The baseball team had accidentally hit an emergency door alarm at the Dow Center. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

February 12th

2:21 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Burns Apartments smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found one of the apartments had burnt food which caused the alarm to sound. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

12:56 pm – HARASSMENT: A student reported being harassed by another student in Whitehouse Hall. Disp: cleared.

4:02 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: A staff member called and reported a student was parked in her reserved parking space. Disp: Cleared.

6:40 am – DISTURBANCE: A community member reported several male students running across the road wearing light or no clothing near Wesley Hall. Officers responded but were unable to find anyone fitting that description. Disp: Cleared.

February 16th

1:50 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: ADPS advised a vehicle parked on Michigan Ave was parked too far into the road and would be towed. The owner was contacted and moved the vehicle. Disp: Cleared.

9:36 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Mitchell Towers smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found burnt popcorn had set off the alarm. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

February 17th

10:50 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Mitchell Towers smoke alarm activated. Students called and advised the alarm was due to burnt popcorn. Officers responded and checked the building. The alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

February 18th

4:55 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: A vehicle parked on the sidewalk blocking the path of visitors was reported next to Kresge Gym. Officers responded but the vehicle had moved. Disp: Cleared.

4:59 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Mitchell Towers alarm activated. Student called and advised the alarm was due to a hair dryer. Officers responded, checked the building, and reset the alarm. Disp: Cleared.

February 19th

3:53 pm – LARCENY: A student reported his items stolen at the Dow Center. Disp: Inactive.

3:55 pm – MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Incident occurred at the Science Complex. Disp: Cleared.

February 20th

11:44 am – MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Incident occurred at the Visual Arts Building. Disp: cleared.

3:22 pm – LARCENY: A student reported his wallet stolen from his room in Wesley Hall. Disp: Inactive.

February 21st

3:28 pm – PARKING COMPLAINT: Lot 10 behind Kresge Gym was reported to be very full and chaotic. Officers checked the lot and advised vehicles were able to get in and out of the lot. It would clear out once the basketball game was through. Disp: Cleared.

February 22nd

12:19 am – ALCOHOL VIOLATION: Incident occurred outside of Wesley Hall. Disp: closed (Administrative).

2:51 am – NOISE COMPLAINT: A student reported loud music coming from Delta Tau Delta. Officers were already in the fraternity area and advised all buildings were quiet. Disp: Cleared.

11:41 am – SMOKE ALARM: Octagon Annex smoke alarm sounded. Students advised that the alarm was due to burnt food. Officers responded and assisted in getting a small amount of smoke out of the kitchen and reset the alarms. Disp: Cleared.

3:29 pm – SUSPICIOUS PERSON: A student reported a man going through the dumpsters behind the fraternities. Officers responded and told the man he had to leave the property. Disp: Cleared.

February 23rd

1:12 am – SMOKE/ODOR INVESTIGATION: A marijuana type smell was reported in Mitchell Towers. Officers responded and found the smell was due to a skunk outside. Disp: Cleared.

10:35 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: A student was emailed to move his vehicle from the Fire Zone in Lot 1. Disp: Cleared.

10:43 am – PARKING COMPLAINT: Grounds reported a vehicle parked in front of the dumpster at Mitchell Towers. Disp: Cleared.


February 24th

10:18 am – MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Incident occurred at Health Services. Disp: Cleared.

10:29 am – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: A student reported the basement window in Fiske Annex was open and looked like someone came inside. Officers responded and advised the wind had blown open the window and there were no tracks in the snow outside the building, meaning no one entered from the exterior. Facilities was advised to secure and fix the window. Disp:

12:02 pm – INTRUSION ALARM: Dining Services set off the intrusion alarm at Bellemont Manor. Officers responded and shut the alarm off for the afternoon. Disp: Cleared.

9:56 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: The Library smoke alarm sounded. Officers responded and completed a walk-through of the building. The alarm was reset and Facilities was advised of the trouble. Disp: Cleared.

February 25th

2:22 pm – MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A student reported multiple canned goods had holes stabbed in them located in the basement storage room. Disp: Inactive.

8:25 pm – BAT REMOVAL: Fiske Annex residents reported a bat flying in the basement. Officers responded but the bat had flown through a hole near the ceiling. Disp: Cleared.

9:50 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Library workers reported the Stockwell alarm panel beeping. Officers silenced the panel and advised Facilities of the issue. Disp: Cleared.

February 27th

5:14 pm – POWER OUTAGE: Stockwell Library workers reported the power out on the bridge linking Mudd and Stockwell Library. Facilities was contacted and the issue was fixed a short time later. Disp: Cleared.

February 28th

12:15 am – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: Students smoking marijuana behind Wesley Hall were reported. Officers responded but did not locate any students. Disp: Cleared.

1:46 am- NOISE COMPLAINT: A room in Whitehouse Hall was reported for being very loud. Officers spoke with the residents who agreed to quiet down. Disp: Cleared.

10:09 pm – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: Two individuals were seen entering the Equestrian Center and shortly after the lights were turned off. Officers responded but did not find anyone in the vicinity. Disp: Cleared.

March 2nd

11:30 am – SEXUAL ASSAULT: Three cases of sexual assault were reported which occurred February 2014, March 2014, and May 2014 at a fraternity. Disp: Inactive.

11:30 am – ASSAULT: Reported incident occurred in September 2014 at a fraternity. Disp: Inactive

2:00 pm – HARASSMENT: Received a report of a student being harassed by an employee of a contractor in Baldwin Hall. Disp: Cleared

5:30 pm – REQUESTED TO LEAVE CAMPUS/BARRED: Two individuals who were going through trash behind Baldwin Hall were barred from campus. Disp: Cleared.

March 3rd

10:09 pm – SUSPICIOUS PERSON: A student reported two suspicious individuals on Huron Street looking for parking spaces, who followed him a short distance. Disp: Cleared.

7:39 am – INTRUSION ALARM: Jr High Building intrusion alarm sounded. Officers responded and found Facilities in the building unable to reset the alarm. Disp: Cleared.

9:54 am – MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Incident occurred at the Science Complex. Disp: Cleared.

4:41 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Mitchell Towers fire alarm activated. Officers responded and found a hair dryer had caused the alarm to sound. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

5:37 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Sigma Chi trouble alarm activated. Officers responded and found a lacrosse ball had accidentally hit a detector. Alarm was silenced and reset. Disp: cleared.

March 11th

11:05 pm – TROUBLE ALARM: Wesley Hall trouble alarm activated. Officers responded and completed a walk-through of the building, but found no cause for the activation. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

4:00 pm – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: A student reported he believed another was wearing an item that belonged to him at Sigma Nu. Disp: Cleared.

5:00 pm – ASSIST ADPS: Campus Safety assisted ADPS with a possible break in of a vacant house the college owned on Berrien Street. Disp: Inactive.

March 17th

11:00 am – HAZING: Campus Safety received a report of hazing which occurred in February at Sigma Chi. Disp: Closed (Administrative).

4:45 pm – ALCOHOL VIOLATION: Incident occurred near the baseball fields at the Dow Center. Disp: Closed (Administrative).

5:10 pm – Counseling Services intrusion alarm activated. An employee called and advised the alarm tripped when he was arming it. Officers responded and reset the alarm. Disp: Cleared.

9:17 am – SUSPICIOUS SITUATION: First Merit Bank reported they had a tamper alarm for an ATM at the Kellogg Center. The ATM appeared normal when checked. First Merit was advised. Disp: Cleared.

5:16 pm – SMOKE ALARM: Briton Apartments smoke alarm activated. Officers responded and found the alarm caused by smoky cooking in one of the apartments. Alarm was reset. Disp: cleared.

March 19th

10:03 am – TROUBLE ALARM: Alpha Chi Omega sorority water flow alarm sounded outside the building. Officers responded and found a contractor inside that had tripped the alarm. Alarm was reset. Disp: Cleared.

8:00 pm – MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Incident occurred at the Kellogg Center Eat Shop. Disp: Cleared.

She got out to go to her dorm and he seemed to follow her, so she got back in her car. Officers responded but he had gotten in a van and driven off before their arrival.
