Giving Tuesday: Bigger Than Ever for Albion

The College smashes its previous record on annual day of charitable giving

December 1, 2017

The spirit of giving is alive and well at Albion College. And on Tuesday, November 28, Britons everywhere demonstrated it in an overwhelming fashion.

As part of the International Day of Giving, 322 donors decided to make an impact for this generation of students and generously gave $185,174.78 to the College, shattering a goal of $130,000.

It’s the fifth straight year Albion College has taken part in the event, more commonly known as Giving Tuesday, and the fifth straight year donors have surpassed the previous year’s total. In this case, it was a 61 percent jump from last year’s record, when more than $113,000 was raised.

“As I watched the progress on Tuesday, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the incredible generosity that our alumni have for today’s students,” said Bob Anderson, vice president for alumni relations and development. “Walking the Quad and seeing more students than at any recent time rushing to class underscores for me just how important the philanthropic spirit is at Albion.

“Students on campus today experience the impact of giving every day – through scholarship, building improvements and through the breadth of activities, academic and extracurricular, that they participate in. A big Briton thank you to everyone who supports our students so meaningfully.”
