Some 70 Albion College students, faculty and staff gathered around The Rock on the evening of February 27 for a somber, emotional candlelight vigil in honor of the victims of the February 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. President Mauri Ditzler and College Chaplain Rev. Donald Phillips spoke to the gathering as did Student Senate President Robert Joerg, ’19, and Vice President Sunny Kim, ’20. The Parkland tragedy, which took the lives of 17 students and staff and wounded 16 more, has again sparked conversation about the issue of gun rights in America.
