Daniel Palmer
Applied Instructor of Guitar, Guitar Ensemble
Daniel Palmer is an active guitarist, composer, and educator based in Southern Michigan. As an artist and composer, he can be heard live and on record as a member of the contemporary jazz ensemble Talking Ear, Emerald Trio, Estar Cohen, Patrick Booth, Luke Woltanski, the Balkan/Romani band Slavistar, and various other artists spanning a diverse range of musical genres. He has studied and shared the stage with artists such as Jon Hendericks, Tad Weed, Fabian Almazan, Gene Perla, Vic Juris, and Michael Gulezian.
Palmer has played extensively throughout the midwest and east coast at notable venues and festivals including the Newport Jazz Festival (Newport, RI), Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), Chicago World Music Festival, Old Town School of Folk Music (Chicago, IL), The Jazz Estate (Milwaukee, WI), Detroit Institute of the Arts, Blue Llama Jazz Club, The Ark, and Cliff Bell’s, among others. He can also be heard as a freelance musician throughout Michigan and the midwest, and is endorsed by Godin Guitars and Cusack Music.
Palmer graduated with a BA from Albion College and a MM from the University of Toledo, studying under Larry Williams, Bobby Streng, Jay Rinsen Weik, and Gunnar Mossblad. He currently holds an adjunct faculty position at two colleges in Southern Michigan, working with private guitar students, classical and jazz ensembles, and group instructional classes.
