How It Works

Register for Classes

Upon registering for courses, you will be automatically enrolled into the program. Once you’ve successfully selected your courses, the bookstore will start preparing your order.

Verify Your Order

Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email to verify your order and select your fulfillment preference.

Receive Your Textbooks

An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your courses within Course Webs.

What is the Brit Books program? Toggle Accordion

The Brit Books program is a course material model that lowers the cost of materials and ensures you have access to all of your required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this new program, physical books will be conveniently packaged and provided to you on a rental basis, and digital materials will be delivered directly within Course Webs. Costs will be applied as a course charge. At the end of the term, you will receive email reminders to return their physical course materials to the bookstore.

  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you)
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships
  • Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Course Webs

How much does it cost? Toggle Accordion

Students will pay just $76 per unit for all their texts (no matter the text cost), with a maximum payment of $418.

What is included in the program? Toggle Accordion

The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.

What is excluded from the program? Toggle Accordion

The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits or nursing kits.

How do I enroll in the program? Toggle Accordion

All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the Brit Books program.

Can I opt-out of the program? Toggle Accordion

While it is not recommended, you have the option to opt-out of this program.

Opting out means you will not receive access to your required course materials in a convenient package at a discounted rate.

You have until Jan. 17, 2023 to opt out. Otherwise, look for more communication from Barnes and Noble about the details of your order and delivery.

How do I change my opt-out status? Toggle Accordion

  1. Browse to the Brit Books Opt In/Out webpage.
  2. Login using your Albion College network username and password
  3. Complete the form and click save

You have until Jan. 17, 2023 to opt out.

How do I purchase my course materials if I decide to opt-out of the program? Toggle Accordion

You will be responsible for purchasing your required course materials through the bookstore.

When are my textbook rentals due back to the bookstore? Toggle Accordion

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals. You will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to your email address.

Can I buy my rented textbook? Toggle Accordion

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.

What is the deadline for returning my books? Toggle Accordion

Books from the Fall 2022 semester can be returned until Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022.

Do I need to return books if they are for a continuation course? Toggle Accordion

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

What happens if I never verify my order? Toggle Accordion

You will receive emails and phone calls from the bookstore to remind you to verify your order. If you do not opt-out, your materials will be held at the bookstore and your account will be charged.

Yes, if you do not opt-out, your materials will be held at the bookstore and your account will be charged.

What if I drop a class? Toggle Accordion

You may return the book to the bookstore on the same terms and timelines currently in place. If you drop a class and enroll in
a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required textbooks/codes so that you have what you need.

Can I opt-out if I picked up my textbooks? Toggle Accordion

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will go back onto your account.
