Mark E. Bollman
Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science
The weathered casino slot machine still resides in his office after all these years. It is a reminder and a symbol of Bollman’s very specific and enthralling study of mathematics and how it relates to gambling.
He has spent more than 26 years at Albion, and his interest in the mathematical permutations of gambling remains as strong as ever.
And he continues to teach courses that follow his long-time passion including Perspectives on Gambling (in the Honors Program) and Math of the Gaming Industry. But the 121 different courses he has taught in his career also include classes in the math needed in everyday life such as Precalculus, Calculus I and II, Financial Math for Actuaries, and Abstract Algebra.
