Drew Christopher
Professor of Psychological Science
Dr. Andrew (Drew) Christopher is a Professor of Psychological Science at Albion College in Albion, Michigan, where he has taught since 2001. Prior to coming to Albion, he taught for two years as an Assistant Professor at Anderson College (now Anderson University) in Anderson, South Carolina. Prior to becoming a faculty member, Drew was an undergraduate at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he majored in economics and finance and minored in psychology. He obtained his MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and his MA and PhD from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he concentrated in personality and organizational psychology. He regularly teaches classes such as Introductory Psychology, Personality Psychology, Research Methods & Statistics, I/O Psychology, a first-seminar called Public Policy in Film, and an honor’s seminar titled Black Swans in History. Having published more than 100 articles, chapters, and books, his research has appeared in outlets such as Teaching of Psychology, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences, and the Journal of Economic Psychology. He is the author of the textbook Interpreting and Using Statistics in Psychological Research. A former both department chair and editor of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology’s (STP’s) journal Teaching of Psychology, he now does research on individual differences in risk-taking behaviors and human values, along with work in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Starting in 2026, he will be the President for the Society for the Teaching of Psychology.
Drew has been recognized at Albion College as the New Teacher of the Year in 2003, the Teacher of the Year in 2014, and Phi Beta Kappa Scholar of the Year in 2003 and 2009. In addition, in 2013, he was awarded the Robert S. Daniel Award for Outstanding Teaching at a 4-Year College or University from STP. In 2017, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (2017) recognized him with the Undergraduate Teaching and Mentoring Award. In 2021, the Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR) awarded him the Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research in the Social Sciences Award having published more than 30 peer review papers and made more than 60 professional conference presentations with undergraduate students at Albion College.
