Wind Chill Advisory in effect for Albion through Wednesday

January 15, 2024

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Albion from noon today, Jan. 15 through Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. The forecast throughout Saturday, Jan. 20 calls for freezing temperatures and wind chill readings reaching 10–20 degrees below zero.

At this time, spring semester classes will resume as scheduled Tuesday, Jan. 16 and offices and most campus buildings will be open during their normally scheduled hours.

We will continue to monitor weather reports throughout the week and if conditions change and require adjustments to operations, updates will be issued via email, text, and on albion.edu. Check your email and text frequently for any messages from the College regarding weather impacts.

Frostbite can occur on exposed skin in about 10 minutes in the conditions that are predicted. The College is not able to provide transportation on campus for all students, but students can walk almost anywhere on campus in less than 10 minutes. Just remember to dress in layers, wear coats, gloves, and hats, make sure exposed skin is covered, and keep in mind that, for those walks that are closer to 10 minutes, it is possible to stop inside any campus building to warm up for a few minutes before continuing.

Please be extra careful to limit your exposure when outside and walking around campus. Wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or you are concerned about your safety call 517-629-1234.

Student-athletes should check with their coaches regarding practices and competitions that are scheduled this week, as those events are governed by MIAA and NCAA policies and procedures.
