President Webster looking forward to new ‘journey’

August 1, 2023

Fall semester starts in four weeks, and we are excited to have new and returning students back on campus as Dr. Wayne Webster begins his tenure as the 18th president of Albion College.

“I am so honored to join this remarkable community and to work with all of you to lead Albion toward a strong, successful and sustainable future,” said Webster, who joins Albion with 23 years of higher education experience. “Albion has a great tradition of providing transformational learning experiences that prepare students for lives of personal and professional engagement. I look forward to beginning that journey with you this fall as your new president.”

Student-athletes and other student groups return to campus in preparation for classes starting on Monday, Aug. 28. Orientation leaders report early to help new students and transfers get acclimated to Albion while athletes are gearing up for their respective championship runs.

The Class of 2027 moves in Aug. 23 and starts orientation with Albion-O for the next four days. Albion-O helps new students get comfortable with their new campus and community environment. The highlight of orientation is the matriculation ceremony in Wesley Chapel on Friday, Aug. 25 where first-year and transfer students are officially welcomed by President Webster, faculty and staff. The event will be recorded and shared online for viewing.

The Briton Bash is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 30. This student organization fair features opportunities to get involved on campus. Student senate, honorary organizations, sororities, fraternities and cultural organizations will be on hand to talk with new and returning students about opportunities to get involved and engaged on campus.

The first home football game is Saturday, Sept. 16 against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium. Under new Head Coach Travis Rundle, the Brits are looking to improve on their 9-1 record from last year. Alumni, family and friends of the College will gather in Albion for Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 30, an action-packed weekend that unites the Albion family.
