Why Study Premed at Albion?

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Premedical Studies is an intensive student cohort designed to give students first-hand experience in medicine and prepare them for their future.

This “record-enhancer” post-bacc program is ideal for students interested in further development of their academic and extracurricular competencies before they apply for admission to medical, dental, veterinary, physical therapy, physician assistant, or pharmacy school.

On our small campus, you can expect to build strong relationships with faculty and staff from different departments. Our interdisciplinary premedical post-bacc program empowers you to learn from each other and from the perspectives of different departments through hands-on activities and open dialogues. That’s why 96% of our students that have applied to medical school over the last eight years have been accepted.

What Will You Learn as a Post-Bacc Premed Student?

You'll develop and demonstrate proficiency in the competencies that medical schools look for, including critical thinking, written communication, oral communication, inquiry and reasoning, ethics and cultural competence.

Our liberal arts core will expose you to diverse perspectives and make you a better communicator and critical thinker, skills that will help you succeed in medical school.

You’ll prepare for success in your MCAT/DAT/GRE exam through our unique preparation program.

You'll learn and grow through individualized academic advising and gain hands-on experience through clinical placements.

Our Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program includes free MCAT/DAT/GRE preparation via a partnership with Kaplan, one of the premiere MCAT preparation programs in the country. You’ll get the structure and guidance you need to pass these exams with confidence through live courses, practice tests and tutoring from MCAT/DAT/GRE experts.

Individualized Support

Rather than working with our post-bacc students in a group, we commit to working with each student individually. We encourage students to take their own path to professional programs based on their interests and passions and believe there is no “cookie-cutter” formula for matriculation to medical-related graduate and professional programs. Students will participate in workshops covering a wide range of topics including reflective writing, test-taking strategies, application preparation, mock interview support, and clinical observation assistance.

The Wilson Institute does a phenomenal job helping prospective medical students gain an edge with resources like the MCAT prep class through Kaplan Learning. Without it, I may have been in a much different position come interview time.

The Wilson Institute helped me find and pursue volunteer and clinical experiences that not only helped me get into medical school, but that have led me to be successful during these first two years.

Going to TPC was one of the best decisions I ever made. I was able to work at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School for Medicine doing cancer research. Working at one of the top research institutions in the country allowed me to see how medicinal research operates.

Sagar Kamaraju

The Wilson Institute was a crucial element of my success at Albion. The Institute supported my dream of medical school with close advising and opportunities to expand my education while enriching my growth as a future young physician.
