Signature Programs

What is an AmeriCorps signature program?

An AmeriCorps signature program is a fully student-powered initiative that we design and lead in close collaboration with a community partner to address a clearly identified local need. These programs are built from the ground up by our team and sustained through ongoing student leadership, training, and service. Unlike other AmeriCorps placements, signature programs are wholly operated by us, shaped by community insight but executed through our own structure, curriculum, and member engagement. We currently operate two signature programs: Tech Savvy Seniors, which supports older adults in building technology confidence, and Brain Corps, which is our math-focused afterschool program.

Aside from tech help, our tech tutors can aid in accessing non-tech related resources for the clients they visit.

Brain Corps

History Toggle Accordion

Brain Corps was founded in Spring of 2025 to make math engaging, hands-on, and confidence-building for elementary students. From its start, the program focused on creating a supportive, mistake-friendly environment where students could develop problem-solving skills, a growth mindset, and a positive relationship with math. Over the past year, Brain Corps has grown to serve a diverse range of learners, connecting math to real-world experiences and fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.

Program values Toggle Accordion

At Brain Corps, our values guide everything we do, from how we design our lessons to how we support and celebrate every student. These values shape a learning environment where all children can grow, thrive, and discover the joy in math.

We make math fun and engaging while helping students develop a growth mindset, embracing mistakes as part of learning. Students collaborate and explore together, discovering how math connects to everyday life.

What we offer Toggle Accordion

Brain Corps serves students in grades 2–5. The program focuses on helping students build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and develop a positive “math brain” mindset.

Through hands-on, game-based activities, students explore math in ways that are engaging and accessible. Instead of worksheets or tests, they learn through interactive challenges, allowing every child to participate meaningfully while still being challenged at their own level.

Brain Corps provides a supportive, mistake-friendly environment where students are encouraged to try new strategies and grow from their errors. We have both one on one and small-group time everyday to tailor to every child’s learning needs.

By connecting math to real-life situations, we help students understand why math matters and build confidence that carries into school and everyday life.
