Shanti Madhavan-Brown
Assistant Professor of Psychological Science, Internship / Practicum Coordinator
Madhavan-Brown has taught at Albion College since 2020. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology with a concentration in human services from Albion in 2015 and her masters and doctorate in school psychology from Central Michigan University.
Her research focuses on anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder diagnosis, and the factors contributing to anxious behavior in CHARGE syndrome (a rare genetic disorder that is the leading cause of congenital deafblindness). She is also interested in studying the use of experiential learning to prepare undergraduate students for careers in human services.
Named Albion’s New Teacher of the Year in 2022, she primarily teaches the Psychology of Mental Illness, Introduction to Counseling, Psychological Assessment, and the practicum/internship courses.
