Access to Campus Buildings During Shutdown

March 26, 2020, 2:00 p.m.

To comply with Governor Gretchen Whitmer's executive order, campus buildings have been closed and faculty and staff access has been removed. Employees who have been identified by Division Heads as essential to maintain critical infrastructure and minimum basic operations will continue to have access to the spaces they need to fulfill their functions. These employees should be able to access to the appropriate campus building via keycard. Campus Safety has been given the names of these employees, and can provide access for those who have difficulty with a keycard lock after confirming that the requesting employee has been identified as essential.

An exception to the building closures is the Kellogg Center, which will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday – Friday so students and employees can access the campus post office.

Division Heads may continue to identify faculty or staff as essential employees by emailing names to and . Other faculty and staff will not be permitted access to campus buildings until the executive order has been lifted.

Custodial staff continue to work hard to provide a clean and safe environment. To support essential functions, areas that have not been identified as necessary for use while the campus is closed will be cleaned, and signs posted indicating the area should not be used. If a faculty or staff member needs to use one of these marked areas, please email so custodial staff are aware.

Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to navigate through this difficult time.
