Kiernan Gamel, CCSM, CADC
Certified Substance Abuse Specialist
Professional Background: Kiernan holds a Master's in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University with a concentration in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency. He is a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC).
Kiernan has extensive experience in mental health diagnosis and treatment. For the past thirty years, he has specialized in the prevention and treatment of chemical dependency as a program manager, lead counselor, program coordinator, and substance abuse specialist During this time, he has worked in a wide range of socio-cultural settings, such as in California at the Betty Ford Center and the Riverside County Substance Abuse Program; in the West Indies at Crossroads, Eric Clapton's chemical dependency treatment center; and in Michigan at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Michigan Department of Corrections, and Family Services and Children's Aid.
Currently, Kiernan works as a substance abuse specialist at Albion College in Albion, Michigan and as a program manager at Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee & Hillsdale Counties in Michigan. At Catholic Charities he is responsible for overseeing both community and prison based programs across the state of Michigan.
Personal Background: Kiernan resides in Jackson County Michigan with his wife, Amelia. They both enjoy volunteering in a variety of social and educational programs that help people develop skills that lead to strong, stable living. Kiernan also enjoys spending time with family, weight lifting, biking, golfing, and swimming.
