Together Safely: COVID-19 Policies for Fall 2021
August 17, 2021
Dear Albion Community,
As you know, we are planning for a 100% in-person semester of residential teaching and learning this Fall.
We will also be offering a rich and active menu of activities and initiatives, increased opportunities for community dining and in-person athletic schedules and activities, including more relaxed spectator policies, consistent with the most current guidelines from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD).
For Fall 2021, our COVID-19 mitigation strategy is responsive to the transmission rate status assigned to Calhoun County by the CDC. We will implement or relax policies based on our level of transmission rate, ranging from low to high. Our Together Safely Policy Dashboard demonstrates how policies will be implemented or relaxed based on the transmission rate in the county. In addition to transmission level, factors that will be taken into consideration when making policy determinations include the College vaccination rate, active isolations on campus, active quarantines on campus and local testing positivity rate.
Calhoun County’s current transmission rate is high (one indicator), which means the following policies are in place for students, faculty and staff:
- All students, faculty, staff and visitors are required to wear a mask inside College buildings regardless of vaccination status.
At this transmission rate, there are no restrictions to in-person dining for students and no restrictions on indoor or outdoor gatherings.
In addition, for Fall 2021, there are no restrictions on visiting between residential communities, working or traveling off campus or visiting local businesses.
For a full list of policies, review our Together Safely Policy Dashboard.
As the Calhoun County transmission rate changes, we will send campus updates summarizing how this impacts our COVID-19 policies.
You can access our dashboard, view recent updates and read our frequently asked questions by visiting Together Safely.
We look forward to a healthy and productive semester of in-person living and learning.
