Current Students
The Office of Community Living guides students through their experience living on campus. Check out the menu below for a quick summary of our processes and connection points. More information is available at the designated link.
Move-In Day
Each January and August, Community Living helps students navigate the check-in process and plan for move-in day. Staff are located throughout the buildings, and closely work with Campus Safety (parking), Client Services and IT (student IDs, connectivity), and the Facilities Operations teams (maintenance and custodial needs), among others.
Information about the check-in process and move-in day is usually shared two months prior to the scheduled check-in date(s).
Room Selection Process
The Room Selection Process (RSP) occurs during Spring semester from February through April. The process includes communication updates and workshops, and application phases for each type of residential space on campus, including Intentional Living Communities, Living-Learning Communities, Apartment-style, Suite-style, and Community-style residences.
Accommodation petition forms are re-released annually during this time as well.
New RSP information is usually released in January after students return to campus.

Upcoming Breaks
For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, residence halls close for Winter Break (7:00 pm, December 15) and Summer Break (9:00 pm, April 26; 8:00 pm, April 29 for graduating seniors).
As students plan for Winter Break travel, consider the Fall 2022 Final Exam Schedule. Students must depart within 24 hours after their last scheduled exam, and no later than the residence hall closing time.
***
Students can remain in College housing, though classes are not in session, during Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, and Spring Break.
Dining services are limited during Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break.
Community Assistants
Community Assistants (CAs) are student leaders who are employed by Community Living to support community building across campus. CAs also provide after hours support through an on-call structure in select areas.
If you are interested in applying to be a CA, stay tuned – the 2023-2024 application cycle will be released soon. Feel free to email your interest to [email protected] at this time to learn more about the position.
Housing/Meal Plan Change Request Form
Room Change Requests can be considered during the year in a case by case basis, beginning with the third week of the semester. Students seeking a room change should speak with their Area Coordinator or Community Living staff regarding their request.
Meal Plans can be adjusted up until the tenth day of the semester (Spring 2023: January 23). After this, meal plans can be updated or added at a pro-rated cost, but can not be removed or reduced.
Use the form below to submit a Room Change or Meal Plan Change request.
Housing Accommodations
We recommend all students with documented disabilities consider connecting with Elizabeth Rudolph, the Director of Accessibility Services.
Students can also petition for accommodations or housing adjustments through the processes below. Community Living and the Housing Petitions Committee reviews documentation submitted through these forms in regular meetings.
- Board Exemption Petition
- Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Petition
- Residency Exemption Petition
- Single Room Petition
- Window Air Conditioning Unit Petition
Work Orders
Community Living staff work closely with the Facilities Operations team. If you are looking for the work order link to document a maintenance need, click below.
As you select your location and describe the maintenance need, be specific – this helps the Facilities team identify and resolve the concern.
Students must log in with the network username and password to submit a work order.
