Burns Apartments Experience

The Burns Street Apartments are the place for junior and senior-level students looking for truly independent living on campus. Each two-student studio or one-bedroom, one-bathroom style apartment comes with a full kitchen, including a stove and full-sized refrigerator, and ample space for studying or relaxing.

Located at the corner of Clark and Burns streets, these apartments house 46 students of junior and senior standing (gender-specific), with two people to an apartment. There are a total of 15 standard apartments (one-bedroom, one-bathroom) and eight efficiency (studio) apartments.

Our construction projects team was able to reinvigorate many of the spaces in Fall 2022 with updated flooring, paint, and surfaces. Throughout the whole building, bathroom fans were added and new HVAC standalone units were installed to increase efficiency and ensure optimal energy use and to provide cooling capacity during warmer months.

History

Albion College housing on Burns Street began following World War II, when the return of GIs from overseas caused housing shortages nation-wide. A prefabricated “war-surplus” wooden structure was located on Burns Street for veterans attending Albion College after their service. This temporary structure is not the structure you see now!

Room Selection Process

If interested in applying to live in a Burns Street apartment during Spring Room Selection Process, students can apply in a group of two for either a one-bedroom or an efficiency (studio-style) apartment. Juniors and seniors are eligible to apply to apartment options at Albion.

For more information on room rates, please see the Student Accounting Office’s Tuition & Fees page.

Students in Burns Street Apartments are not required to be on a College Board Plan. However, students may purchase a College Board Plan if desired. Please see Dining Services for more information.
