New Albion Hotel Takes Its Place in Downtown Revitalization

The new, 75-room Courtyard by Marriott opened in March and is operating at 200 S. Superior St. In a bigger way, it stands ready to do its part to help with the revitalization of downtown Albion. The property was built by the real estate development firm headed by Dr. Samuel Shaheen, '88, and is being managed by the Marquette-based Veridea Group, whose president is Robert Mahaney, '80.

HBCUs and Albion: Teachers' Personal Stories Cap Black History Month

Personal histories of some beloved Albion educators merged with a national documentary earlier this week in a community-centered conclusion to Albion College's 2018 Black History Month celebration. On February 27, Tell Them We Are Rising, a film about historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) was shown at the downtown Bohm Theatre; it was followed by a "talk back" from three local HBCU alumni and Albion Public Schools educators.

Michael Williams, '78, is a funny guy, with the great gift of using humor to drill into uncomfortable subjects. The former mayor of Albion and current Albion College trustee celebrated and challenged what makes this community great during the 2018 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation and Community Celebration, held January 29 at the downtown Bohm Theatre.
