There’s always a certain buzz in the air as fall semester approaches. At Albion, that buzz has become a deeper momentum on a number of fronts: the largest first-year class of the decade, a new hotel project downtown and, through the continued generosity of donors, a significant increase in giving to the College.

The College’s Institutional Advancement division raised $11,618,205 for the 2015 fiscal year, which ended June 30. That figure includes funds from gifts, pledges and deferred pledges, and overall the total represents a 56 percent increase—or $4,223,743 to be exact—from the 2014 fiscal-year giving total.

Of the $11.6 million, $2,524,596 went to the Albion College Annual Fund, which includes current restricted and unrestricted gifts. This number surpassed a goal of $2.5 million and was up 6.5 percent from the year before.

"Alumni are more excited about Albion College's future than at any time in the past 10 years based on this remarkable philanthropic support," said Robert Anderson, vice president for alumni relations and development. "I think Britons both far and wide and close to home are sensing that great things lie ahead for their alma mater. They are showing their support and we can’t thank them enough for it. We will work hard to make sure that every dollar of their gifts is truly impactful.”
