Andrew Wittland, '19, has lofty goals for the upcoming cross country season and for his career after college. That's why, in addition to logging the miles necessary to run near the front of the pack this fall, he is gaining an experiential learning opportunity this summer as a social media intern for the Spectrum Health sports medicine and orthopedic group based in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich. An added bonus: Wittland is working under the direction of Albion athletic training alumnus Luke Murray, '13.

With nearly 1,200 digs in her first two collegiate volleyball seasons, Monica Shuk, '19, has become one of the top defensive players in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Milford, Mich., native is just as focused on developing her professional skills in accounting, and she recently talked about her summer internship in the Bingham Farms office of Jacobs, a Fortune 500 engineering and technology firm.

Mick McCabe, who spent 46 years carving out a special niche at the Detroit Free Press, didn’t attend Albion College. But his respect and love for the school runs deep nonetheless thanks to the fact that two of his kids graduated from Albion. And that's why, at his retirement roast in May, McCabe earmarked the $3,500 in proceeds to Albion's journalism program. "I really liked everything about Albion," he said.

"For the anniversary edition [of Gladiator on DVD] I pulled some images of costumes and I ended up with a 'Special Thanks,'" says Jason Moritz about his only film credit. That was long ago and far away for Moritz, who after six years as a movie studio archivist and librarian has marked 10 years at Albion College as the Education Department's teaching-certification officer, serving as the department's liaison with the state of Michigan.
