Albion Included in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2010

Albion College is again recognized as one of the nation’s best higher education institutions, with inclusion in the 2010 Fiske Guide to Colleges.

fiske2.gifEstablished by former New York Times education editor Edward Fiske, the Fiske Guide provides detailed information on just over 330 of the more than 2,200 four-year institutions in the U.S. It includes both objective and subjective information on the strengths and weaknesses of each institution’s academics, social life and overall quality of life.

The guide especially commended Albion for a broad liberal arts focus combined with meaningful pre-professional experience. It cited the Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service as an exemplary program, with admiration for the Gerstacker Liberal Arts Institute in Professional Management, and the pre-law and healthcare programs. The College’s faculty in general were also commended both for their qualifications and attention to student development.

No college guidebook can replace an actual campus visit, but the Fiske Guide comes close,” noted Albion Admission director Kevin Kropf. “Fiske captures many of the unique qualities of Albion College. Guides like these are especially important for international students and those from outside the Midwest, where a campus visit may not be feasible early in the process.”
