Ford students are required to complete the equivalent of at least ten community service hours per each semester in the institute. The purpose of this requirement is to provide students with opportunities to better understand – and contribute substantially to – the organizations with which they serve. We encourage each of our students to choose a small number of community organizations with which to serve, allowing time for in-depth experience and involvement in efforts around an organization's mission. Organizations with which we have a formal affiliation agreement provide students with training to better understand the organization's mission, history, needs, and target populations.
At the end of each semester, students are expected to submit a community service log in person or online, complete with thoughtful reflections about their experiences.
