Lesley Nneka Arimah, author of What It Means When a Man Falls From the Sky, was born in the UK and grew up in Nigeria and wherever else her father was stationed for work.  A National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" honoree, her work has been a finalist for a National Magazine Award and the Caine Prize, and a winner of the Kirkus Prize, the African Commonwealth Short Story Prize, the GLCA New Writers Award for Fiction, and an O. Henry Award, among other honors.  She lives in Minneapolis.

This event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the English Department and the Stockwell-Mudd Library. A book signing will follow. For more information, please contact the English Department at 517/629-0232.

Fourth Annual Film Festival Comes to Bohm Theatre (Sunday, Feb 23 12:00 pm)

Filmmakers and film fans gather in Albion's Bohm Theatre on Sunday, February 23, for the fourth annual Albion College Film Festival. The show begins at noon, with prizes awarded after all films have been shown.

 

Previous festival entries have ranged from documentary to horror to travelogue, done by filmmakers from across the community and across the state.

 

The Festival will accept film submissions until January 28. All films must be shorter than 10 minutes.

 

The event is free, but donations will be accepted on behalf of Harrington Elementary School. For more information on submitting a film, contact Albion College's Honors Program assistant director Renee Kreger at .
