This exhibit showcases broadsides that feature Ursula Le Guin’s language and images from the Albion College print collection as well as maps of Earthsea. Earthsea is a place of land and water, mountains and seas. Come view beautiful prints from the Albion College print collection that capture both and give us a new kind of insight into the deep connections between Ged's world and our own. Come visit the exhibit from 5 October 2015 to 31 October 2015 at the Bobbit Visual Arts Center at Albion College, open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This exhibit explores the recent and not-so-recent pattern of representing protagonists of color as white on the dust jackets of the books they inhabit. Come learn about the power of images to represent and misrepresent what is real. The exhibit opens at the Albion District Library at 10:00 AM on 5 October 2015 with refreshments and brief remarks by head of youth services Jamie Bernard. It will run throughout the entire month. Please note the library is closed on Fridays and Sundays. Visit the library's website for more information:http: //www.albionlibrary.org.
This Big Read Book Discussion about Ursula Le Guin's "A Wizard of Earthsea" will be hosted by Albion's local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and their youth program ASCEND and will be led by participants in our Big Read Summer Leadership Program. The discussion will be held at Presient Mauri Ditzler's home (501 E. Michigan Avenue).
