Albion College Opens Festival of the Forks with Thursday Concert

Up-and-coming country/pop trio Oferle, along with Albion College's Euphonics and Divine dance group, bring an exciting opening to Albion's Festival of the Forks on Thursday, September 19. The free concert starts at 7 p.m. in the Bohm Theatre.

Blurring the lines between country and pop, the brother-sister-cousin trio Oferle has attracted fans nationwide through streaming, radio play, and concert appearances with the Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney, Edwin McCain, Judah and the Lion, and Before You Exit.

Opening for Oferle will be Albion College's Euphonics a cappella ensemble and Divine, a new hip-hop dance group of Albion College students.

Arizona Geographer Shares Story of Prosecution Following Humanitarian Work at Albion College

An Arizona geographer, caught in the crossfire between federal law enforcement and humanitarian activity, shares his story with Albion on Wednesday, September 25. The presentation takes place at 4:15 p.m. in Albion College's Bobbitt Visual Arts Center. .

Scott Warren, a geographer at Arizona State University, was arrested in January 2018 for involvement in humanitarian aid work in Arizona. Warren, who lives in what is described as the deadliest land crossing between the U.S. and Mexico, was charged with two counts of Human Smuggling and one count of Conspiracy to Harbor. In 2019, an Arizona trial resulted in a hung jury, and Warren now faces a federal trial, set to begin in November.

Night Observing

Join us on the roof of Palenske Hall and in our historical observatory in the Honors Building for star and planet viewing on selected nights and days this year.

The telescopes will be open to the campus community and the public for viewing celestial objects, weather permitting.

The Alvan Clark telescope is located within the Brown Honors Building near the center of the Albion College Quadrangle. Palenske Hall is located within the Science Complex on East Michigan Avenue, just east of Hannah Street. View the campus map for more information.
