Blues at the Bohm

Soul Food Night

Topics of Color

Albion students share presentations they made at the Fall 2019 Great Lakes Colleges Association Students of Color Conference. Jayson Sawyer, '21, presents on "Toxic/Hypermasculinity"; Zahra Ahmed, '21, presets on "'What Are You?" Understanding the Mixed Race Identity"' and Jada Stewart, '22, discusses "How to Balance College Life with a Side Hustle." 6 to 8 p.m., Albion College Kellogg Center.

True Black History Museum

This pop-up traveling museum was established to preserve the history of African American people and to highlight contributions they have made to humankind. A presentation about the museum and its mission will take place at noon. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Albion College Kellogg Center.

Documentary, "Unrest"

Jennifer Brea, an African American who was a PhD student at Harvard University when she suddenly became ill with a high fever & became bedridden. She was initially misdiagnosed with conversion disorder, eventually was identified as having myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This film uses Brea's story to illustrate the worldwide impact of this little-understood disease.6:30 p.m., Albion College Bobbitt Visual Arts Center.

Empowering the Next Generation of Patients

Presenter Sneha Dave is a senior at Indiana University majoring in chronic illness advocacy & journalism. Through her successful battles of health & surgery, she leads two national non-profit organizations. She will discuss her educational journey and passion to create platforms for young people with lifelong health conditions. 7 p.m., Albion College Bobbitt Auditorium.

Fourth Annual Film Festival Comes to Bohm Theatre

Filmmakers and film fans gather in Albion's Bohm Theatre on Sunday, February 23, for the fourth annual Albion College Film Festival. The show begins at noon, with prizes awarded after all films have been shown.

 

Previous festival entries have ranged from documentary to horror to travelogue, done by filmmakers from across the community and across the state.

 

The Festival will accept film submissions until January 28. All films must be shorter than 10 minutes.

 

The event is free, but donations will be accepted on behalf of Harrington Elementary School. For more information on submitting a film, contact Albion College's Honors Program assistant director Renee Kreger at .
