Campus Update

August 29, 2022

(sent via Blackboard system and campus email system)

Good evening,

As of 7:30 p.m. August 29, Albion College has lost power, internet connectivity and landline phones due to the severe thunderstorm that blew through campus at approximately 4:30 p.m. today.

Baldwin Hall is still open and serving dinner. They expect to stop serving at 8 p.m.

The Department of Campus Safety does have flashlights, lanterns and other items for you to check out and use during this time. For your safety and the safety of those in your building, please do not use candles in your living spaces. You can stop by the Campus Safety office and the staff will gladly help. While you are there, you may also charge your phone.

We do not expect any news throughout the night as to when power might be restored and there will be no news about the status of classes until 6 a.m. tomorrow.

Staff from Community Living and Campus Safety are in the process of walking through all of our residential buildings to be sure that everyone is safe and aware of this situation. As a reminder, Campus Safety can be reached at (517) 629-5610.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time and for helping to keep one another safe.
