Esteemed honor recognizes 30 years of distinguished service to the College; strong ties to Albion community

A truly perfect spring day set the stage for Albion’s 2021 Commencement and 2020 in-person Commencement, both held on May 8. Some 350 members, with their families, attended the 2021 Commencement while later more than 50 members of the Class of 2020 represented the nearly 300 students who earned their degrees during the first weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Albion College, one of the top 50 innovative liberal arts colleges in the country, announced today their new School for Public Purpose and Professional Advancement.

Funding will support an innovative approach to experiential learning at the Albion College Community Collaborative, where students will build and operate a full-scale consulting firm—to be located in a renovated 207 S. Superior St. (left) this fall—serving clients and partners from local, regional and national nonprofits to small businesses and government agencies.

From nonprofit organizations in Southern California to a world-class research team in Maryland, Albion College’s 2021 Distinguished and Young Alumni Award winners span the country as they work to make the world a better place.

The “Big Bang” may have started the universe but it’s likely that smaller bangs played a key role in life on Earth, say Albion College physics professor Nicolle Zellner and chemistry professor Vanessa McCaffrey.
