Daniel Valles serves as Albion College’s Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer, bringing a wealth of experience in higher education finance and operations to the institution. In his role, he oversees key areas of the college’s administration, including financial planning, budgeting, accounting, human resources, information technology, facilities management, and auxiliary services. Valles plays a central role in supporting Albion’s mission and strategic goals, working closely with campus leadership and the Board of Trustees to ensure fiscal responsibility and institutional growth.
Before joining Albion College, Valles held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. There, he managed a $100 million annual budget and directed operations across diverse departments, including financial planning, enrollment, and campus infrastructure. His leadership at Willamette was marked by a commitment to collaborative problem-solving and long-term financial stability. Earlier in his career, he served in progressive finance roles at Portland State University and managed operations for Sodexo North America in California and American Samoa.
Valles holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco and a master’s degree in financial analysis from Portland State University. His extensive background equips him to navigate the complexities of higher education finance, ensuring Albion College remains a leader in providing an exceptional liberal arts education.
