Student Printing: How to print to an Albion printer from your personal computer.
What type of files can I print?
You will not be able to choose a specific page range when using the web print option. If your document is 8 pages, you will have to print all 8 pages instead of pages 3 and 4. If you would like to print specific pages, you will need to save them as a separate document.
How do I access web print?
Log in to www.albion.edu/webprint with your Albion network username and password. This is the same password you use to log-in to course webs or an Albion computer lab machine.
Select the “Web Print” option available from the list on the left-hand side.
Once you have selected Web Print, select the “Submit a Job” button on the right-hand side of the screen. Next, you will see the list of printers available for web print. Select the printer you would like to print to. If the printer you would like to print to is not listed, web print is currently not available for that printer. Please email with the name of that printer so it can be considered for Web Print in the future.
Next, you will select the number of copies and to which account you would like to print to. The default is to print one (1) copy of the document, but you can change that by altering the number in the "Copies" box.
It will default to your personal account, but if you are a member of a student organization, you can select “Charge to shared account,” and select that organization in the drop-down menu. We do not use PIN/code at Albion so that feature can be ignored. When you are finished modifying the number of copies and account information, you can select “Upload Document.”
Lastly, you will select “Browse” to locate the document you would like to print. Once you have selected the document, click the “Upload & Complete” button to finish printing.
The screen above will appear once your job has been queued for printing. To continue printing, select the “Submit a Job” button.
Print & Copy Credit
Print & Copy Credit
Each underclass student (first-year through junior year) receives print and copy credit of $20 per semester (400 pages). Each senior student receives a print and copy credit of $25 per semester (500 pages). Students enrolled in summer school will receive an additional $7.50 of print and copy credit (150 pages). Print and copy credit applies to printers in the following areas: Stockwell-Mudd Library, Ferguson Hall Computer Lab, Olin Hall Computer Lab, Palenske Hall, Putnam Hall and the Residence Halls. Print credit rolls over each semester until the value of the print credit account reaches the ceiling of $60.00 (1200 pages).
Monochrome sheets are $.05 and color sheets are $.20.
Purchasing additional Print and Copy Credit
Students needing additional print credit may purchase additional credit at the cost of five cents (.05) per page/credit. Follow link to purchase additional credit with Briton Bucks from your Albion1Card. Print and copy credit can also be purchased at the Accounting Office Monday-Friday 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Students can rollover the print and copy credit balance from semester to semester. To view your balance at anytime, visit www.albion.edu/it/webprint.
To further conserve resources, duplexer units have been installed on many of the lab printers. Print jobs using the duplexer will charge as one page rather than two pages. Since there may be times when duplexing is not preferred, the duplex feature can be overridden in the print settings dialog box as needed.
Submitting a job to a color printer
There are two color printers available for student use on campus. One is located in the Ferguson Hall Computer Lab while the other is near the reference desk in Mudd Library. Print jobs submitted to these printers will charge students thirty cents (.20) in print credit or 4 credits for each page. We strongly encourage all users to print in color only when it is necessary to have color on the page. For example, if you have a 10 page document and pages 4 & 5 have color photos, only print those two pages on a color printer while printing the remainder of the pages on a monochrome printer.
The HP Laserjet Pro 500 and the HP 5225 color printers are capable of printing glossy magazine-quality prints and offer duplex printing. These printers can print from a 8.5x11 to a 11x17.
You can send your project to be printed to and a staff member will print it for you. Please also include in your email what size print you want, quantity (100 is the maximum) and the account number to be charged.
The following costs reflect the actual cost of printing (printer usage, paper and ink).
All prices quoted are for a sheet of paper (single or double-sided are the same price)
8.5x11 (regular size) regular paper - $.30/page
8.5x11 soft gloss or cardstock - $.50/page
8.5x14 (legal size) regular paper - $.50/page
11x17 (tabloid size) regular paper $1.00/page
11x17 glossy/brochure paper $1.50/page
