Technology Assistants (10-15) - This is an entry level position within Information Technology. The Technology Assistant position replaces the former lab assistant position. Technology assistants will have a primary function as either a lab assistant or student office assistant but will be cross trained to fill in where needed. In addition to fulfilling the primary function, technology assistants may also be sent to other areas of campus to assist with general technology issues. Scheduling is flexible and every effort is made to accommodate student workers' schedules. It is expected that students be available for two to four hour shifts up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Students employed as technology assistants will report either to User Services or Instructional Technology but will work closely with staff members in both departments regardless of direct report. Technology Support Specialists (5-8) - This is a mid-level position within Information Technology. Technology Support Specialists assist Information Technology staff in responding to the computing needs of the Campus. This includes but is not limited to trouble shooting and repairing computing equipment for faculty, staff and students. Support Specialists provide support to network users through software installs, and with multimedia and digital video projects. They move and install equipment and peripheral devices, networking, and software. Production support for multimedia and digital video projects. They are required to have good communication and organizational skills, be able to lift and move computer equipment, including monitors and printers, work both independently and as a team player and be exceptionally reliable. An aptitude for troubleshooting computer problems is preferred, but we will also train as necessary. Technology Support Specialists can expect to be very busy at the start of the academic year.
