New York City, 1905. Esther is a lonely seamstress with extraordinary talent. Working out of a small room in a women's boarding house, her skills are much in demand as she sews intimate apparel for clients ranging from wealthy Fifth Avenue women to downtown sex workers. Written by Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright Lynn Nottage, Intimate Apparel is a bittersweet meditation on the experience of black women in turn-of-the-century New York. Appropriate for ages 18+.
