She currently works as an Advocacy Information Specialist at ASCD, an international education association. She follows federal education policy to write newsletters / 1 pagers about how policy impacts the work of educators, and encourage educators to be advocates and contact their lawmakers about issues that matter most in their schools.
I love what I'm doing because I help empower educators to lead and share their expertise outside of the classroom. I have always been interested in education but never had it in me to be a teacher. Working in education policy allows me to have a positive impact on education without working in a school… I am so thankful for the well-rounded education I received at Albion! Albion allowed me to take courses in several fields, helping me to find my passion in policy. For me, Albion was a perfect choice. - Melanie Olmstead
