Lessons and Carols to Set Tone for Season

Albion College Concert Choir, Lessons and Carols, Goodrich Chapel

December 4, 2014

Albion College's 49th annual Festival of Lessons and Carols takes place Sunday, December 7, at 7 p.m. in Goodrich Chapel. This event, first held in England in the 1880s, combines audience singing and choral performances by Albion's Concert Choir and Briton Singers, with scripture readings connected with the season.

New at Lessons and Carols this year is the collection of personal comfort items (hats, gloves, toiletries) and monetary donations for Albion Interfaith Ministries and the Albion/Homer United Way. "It's important to keep this a free event," says Clayton Parr, Albion College's director of choral activities. "We want to provide an opportunity for the audience to give back to the community."

The performance will also be broadcast live on the College's Ustream channel. Following the concert, the local chapter of Albion College alumni will host a reception inside Goodrich's main entrance area. For more information, contact Lisa Reed in the Music Department at 517/629-0481 or .
