Please join us on Monday, April 22, for the Charles Crupi Memorial Poetry Celebration.
The Charles Crupi Memorial Poetry Contest is an annual poetry contest for high school students in Michigan. The contest is dedicated to Charles Crupi, a beloved English professor at Albion who passed away in 2009. Professor Crupi believed that language matters, that poems matter, that students matter—and that is precisely what this contest is about: language, poems, students. More than 600 entries were received from high school students across the state, and the winners' poems will be read during this event. Winners are: Darius Atefat-Peckham, Interlochen Arts Academy; Shira Haus, Kalamazoo Central High School, and Sophie Paquette, Interlochen Arts Academy.
Scott Beal will also be inducted into the Charles Crupi Society for Excellence in the Teaching of Poetry.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at 5:00 p.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 5:15 p.m. For more information contact the Albion College English department, 517/629-0232.
