Nels Christensen, associate professor of English, was a guest during the Feb. 9 edition of the Greening of the Great Lakes radio program on WJR 760-AM, Detroit. The hour-long program airs Sundays at 7 p.m. and is hosted by Dr. Kirk Heinze, '70.
In the interview, Christensen, who often incorporates sustainability and ecology in his classes, talked about college students' perceptions and experiences with sustainability ("I think they are aware of that term in ways now that they weren't even six or seven years ago.") and the greater sense of urgency in current environmental writing, anmong other topics.
Christensen's segment concluded the program and also aired over the weekend at various times on stations in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Muskegon.
