Lucas Harder, '18, is a Finance major and a Business and Organizations minor. He interned this summer with NorthPointe Capital as an equity research analyst. During the summer he was tasked with completing equity research, culminating with a stock pitch at the end of the summer to NorthPointe's management. In the fall of 2016 he interned with Lawrence Evans and Company, a Columbus, Ohio based investment bank as an analyst this fall. At Albion, Lucas is a member of the Albion College swimming and diving team where he has competed at the Division III national championships and was recently designated as a scholar All-American.
"I cannot imagine another college that would have offered me the ability to participate, and succeed in so many ways both inside and outside of academics. My classes have both challenged me and changed the way that I look at the world. The professors are fantastic; I would not be surprised if I stayed in contact with a few of them for years to come. As great as the classes are, I've found that some of my best experiences have come from applying what I've learned to the extra-curricular clubs and organizations that I have been apart of. I don't believe that I would have gotten the leadership experiences that I have had at any other school than Albion. Not to mention my coach, Jake Taber has done a fantastic job of helping me balance my finance course load with athletics."
Lucas is involved in a number of other organizations on campus including, the Gerstacker Institute, Delta Tau Delta, Student Senate, Investment Club and Albion College Conservatives. Lucas hopes to pursue another investment banking internship next summer and upon graduation join a middle-market or bulge bracket investment-banking firm.
"Breaking into investment banking can be difficult not coming from an Ivy League school, however with the help of my professors and Albion alumni I have confidence that I can make this dream a reality."
