Shenstone, Beyer, Chytilo Embark on 'Explorations in Clay'

Albion College alumni Ken Shenstone, ’84, and Anne Beyer, ’10, and ceramics professor Lynne Chytilo demonstrate three approaches to one medium with "Finding a Way In: Explorations in Clay," currently on exhibit in the Bobbitt Visual Arts Center's Munro Gallery. Lauren Daniels, '16, Designs New Art for President's Home

A brand-new piece of student art has become an instant historic detail of the Albion College President's Home at 501 East Michigan Avenue. Designed by Lauren Daniels, '16, and created by Kalamazoo-based stained glass artist Lee Klade, two transom windows have been mounted in an interior archway on the second-floor landing of the home, which was fully restored this summer.

Ancient Optics on View in Albion Storefront

Ancient optical techniques will add to the festive atmosphere on Albion’s Superior Street during this year’s Festival of the Forks in a project that links Albion College’s Art Department with Albion’s historic downtown. The Albion Camera Obscura, located at 119 S. Superior St., will be open from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20. The event is free and open to the public.

DeGroot, '16, Gives Archive Photo Find Its Due—and Its Own Stage

A cache of photographic negatives, overlooked for almost a century, was brought to light this summer by Audrey DeGroot, '16. Learning two historic printing techniques, DeGroot produced a gallery exhibit that will be on display in the Bobbitt Visual Arts Center on Thursday, July 17, and then at Albion's Gardner House Museum through the 2014-15 academic year.
