DeGroot, '16, Gives Archive Photo Find Its Due—and Its Own Stage
A cache of photographic negatives, overlooked for almost a century, was brought to light this summer by Audrey DeGroot, '16. Learning two historic printing techniques, DeGroot produced a gallery exhibit that will be on display in the Bobbitt Visual Arts Center on Thursday, July 17, and then at Albion's Gardner House Museum through the 2014-15 academic year.
Sculptor Middlebrook, '66, Celebrates Monumental Year
David Middlebrook, '66, is in the midst of a monumental year. The Los Gatos, Calif., sculptor was selected to participate in the prestigious Venice Biennale, running through November; his work is being featured in an exhibit as San Jose State University's Department of Art and Art History celebrates its 100th anniversary; and he has been selected for induction into the Albion College Athletic Hall of Fame in October.
Art Students Hold Spring Pottery Sale
Handmade pottery and sculptural objects are on sale as Albion College’s advanced ceramics students host their annual Spring Student Pottery Sale, scheduled for Thursday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the College’s Kellogg Center.

Sculpture Exhibit Offers 'Disintegrated Growth Analysis'

Casey McGuire, an artist specializing in exhilarating sculptural pieces will have an exhibit at Albion College open from Saturday, October 27 through Friday, December 7. The exhibition is titled Disintegrated Growth Analysis.
The daughter of a taxidermist and decoy carver, McGuire was introduced to object making at a young age. McGuire received her BFA cum laude in Studio Arts from Alfred University; she received her MFA in 2007 from the University of Colorado, Boulder. In May of 2009 she was a full fellowship resident at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. In 2010 she had solo exhibition at the Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Recently she was featured in the October 2009 issue of Sculpture Magazine. She currently is an Assistant Professor at the University of West Georgia, Carrollton.
The Munro Gallery is located on the first floor of the Bobbitt Visual Arts Center, which is open from Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The galleries are not open on Sundays, or during campus breaks or holidays.
