James L. Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging

You want to change the world. So do we!

The James L. Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging provides transformative experiential learning opportunities that nurture the cultural, academic, and civic development of its members, and fosters lifelong confidence and learning in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Educators, employers, and policy makers often use the acronym STEM to describe disciplines and majors that pair solutions-based learning with real-world applications. STEM fields share certain ideas and tools that help to explore, explain, and improve the world.

In JLC, we love interdisciplinary conversations that inspire STEM discovery and innovation. We are committed to using STEM to answer critical questions about justice, equity and belonging. JLC programming promotes inclusive access to STEM knowledge, credentials, and professions at Albion College and in all of the communities that matter to our members.
