"The Albion community is a microcosm of America, and if we can fix the problems of formerly industrial towns in a post-industrial world, then we have done something important for this town and for America."
Albion College President Mauri Ditzler (right) shared those words during a recent guest appearance on the Greening of the Great Lakes radio program, hosted by Kirk Heinze, '70. The interview will air separately on East Lansing's WKAR-AM 870 on Sunday, December 13, at approximately 4:40 p.m. Then on the following Sunday, December 20, Ditzler will be the lead segment for the hour-long Greening show on Detroit's WJR-AM 760, which airs at 7 p.m.
Heinze has served in Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources for three decades. Each week his show offers news and conversation about agriculture, building, ecotourism, sustainability, technology and more green topics.
Heinze's MLive blog already features the talk with Ditzler, who added, "There are many idealistic young people at Albion College who can look at what the town is and imagine what the town might become and who want to be part of that transformation."
