Stock Seat Riders Put in a Strong Effort
October 6, 2012
The first shows of the season for the Albion College Stock Seat team proved to be a long - but successful - day of competition at the Midland County Fairgrounds in Midland, Mich. on October 6. The doubleheader was hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
Amidst many first and second place finishes by Briton riders, the Albion College team wound up in fourth place out of nine teams in the morning show. Senior Chelsea Utt (Harbor Springs/Petoskey) stuck it out in a three person ride-off to win Reserve Champion High Point Rider for her Open/Reining division in the morning.
With the nerves of their first show out of the way, the Albion riders stepped up their game to win the Champion High Point Team in the afternoon show. Contributing to the team’s win was senior Amanda Douglas (Cheboygan/Cheboygan Area), who qualified for the Regional Championships in the Advanced division. Another qualifier was Chelsea Weiss (Manchester/Chelsea) who will compete in the Intermediate division at Regionals this season.
