Top of Page Links: Creating Bookmarks/Anchor Links

To set up hyperlinks that take you to a specific place on a web page, such as "top of page" links, follow these steps:

(Note: these instructions assume you've already logged in to your site via FrontPage and the page you'd that you'd like to add the link to is open.)

  1. Click once above the header graphic to insert the cursor where the bookmark will take you.
  2. On the File menu, go to Insert / Bookmark and give the bookmark a meaningful name (usually 'Top') and click ok. A flag icon will appear at the top of your page.
  3. Next, add your "back to top" (or other) text to your page and select it.
  4. Right-click on your selected text and choose Hyperlink from the shortcut menu.
  5. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click the Bookmark button on the right. The Select Place in Document dialog box displays, showing a list of available bookmarks to link to, including the bookmark you created. Select your bookmark and click OK twice to return to your page.
  6. That's it! Don't forget to save your page and test your links!
