Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much does the program cost?
A. Nothing. The program is absolutely free to all participants.

Q. How many weeks does the program last?
A. The program lasts three weeks. The 2007 program runs Monday through Saturday, June 11 until June 30, 2007.  Please see the program calendar for other important dates.

Q. When does the program start and end each day?
A. The program starts at 9:00 A.M. and ends at 2:00 P.M. every day. Students can not be dropped off any earlier than 8:45 a.m. and need to be picked up no later than 2:15 p.m.

Q. What activities will my child do at the program?
A. Each child will participate in Fundamental Physical Skills (games of balance, coordination, laterality, etc.); Fundamental Motor Skills (throwing, kicking, striking, etc.); Math and Science; Social Character Developmental Activities; Literacy.  They also participate in daily games and activities, which utilize skills learned while at the program.  Groups also visited the Albion Public Library and Kids 'N' Stuff Museum on a regular basis.

Q. What does my child receive from the program?
A. Every child will receive (1) a TWIST t-shirt, (2) a water bottle, (3) a daily USDA-approved meal, (4) morning and afternoon snacks, (5) accident-medical insurance coverage (6) supervised professional instruction, and (7) interaction with college students and supportive staff.

Q. Is my child really provided a free lunch?
A. Yes. Every child will receive a free USDA-approved lunch, as well as a morning and afternoon snack.

Q. Do you provide transportation to and from program?
A. No, due to the budget problems state wide there will be no transportation for the program this year

Q. How do I sign up my child?
A. Information regarding the TWIST Program and the registration form will be coming home with your student in May through Harrington Elementary School. If you do not receive one, please  contact Harrington Elementary School.

Q. If I miss the first day of the program, can my child still participate?
A. Yes. Parents are allowed to sign up their child at any time throughout the duration of program.

Q. What if my child cannot attend every day during the five weeks?
A. All children are expected to be in attendance at the program 100% of the time. If students cannot be in attendance, the Activity Director should be given written notice. Please list all dates that you will miss. Also, if a child is ill, please call the program office.
